The second Hong Kong-wide political scientists¡¦ meeting took place at the University of Hong Kong with a forum on reform of the civil service and a luncheon talk by Professor Jim Perry from Indiana University.

A working party with representatives from major institutions of higher education in Hong Kong was formed to explore the possibility of establishing a Hong Political Science Association

11 May 1999

The first meeting of the working party took place at the University of Hong Kong. Three task force teams with responsibilities for constitutional affairs, inaugural activities, and membership were set up.   It was agreed that the inaugural meeting would take place at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

27 August 1999

The constitutional affairs team produced a draft constitution for the Hong Kong political science community.

27 September 1999

A working group meeting at the City University of Hong Kong reviewed the draft constitution and proposed the establishment of the HKPSA.

3 April 2000

The working group met at the City University of Hong Kong and finalized details for inaugural activities.

6 May 2000

Inauguration meeting of the HKPSA and forum on democracy in Greater China at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
